Background
50:50 Parliament are delighted to announce that we have been successful in securing funding from the Rosa Fund for a new project in the North of England. ‘Amplifying Muted Voices’ will be a series of events to empower underrepresented Black, Asian and minority ethnic female change makers. 50:50 will work with women who are unafraid to voice their vision for a better world and support them to have agency to transform their communities - discussing topics from devolution, Brexit, migration, rights and identity, in addition to aiding their personal development journey.
50:50 Trustee, Carol Ann Whitehead FRSA CMgr CCMI Deputy Chair Chartered Management Institute Womens Committee and Portico Library Heritage Trustee, will lead this project as Head of EDI, inspired by her years of work with Pankhurst campaigns and Manchester’s International Womens’ Day projects. Carol Ann is passionate about ensuring a broader range of voices within our elected bodies and will use these events to encourage women to RISE and aim for the Palace of Westminster or Council Chambers; to ROAR so their voice and lived experience can be heard and seen; and REPRESENT their community, cultural heritage and gender.
