This intensive, 5-day Portraiture Painting workshop is for artists of all levels. Class instruction is based on student's experience level.About this Event
This intensive, 5-day Portraiture Painting workshop is for artists of all levels and class instruction will be based on each student's experience level. Each day of class will include demonstrations of various techniques and mediums, such as glazing, brunaille, watercolor pencil, and so on. Students are encouraged to explore and experiment with styles, techniques, and compositions.
Short lectures will introduce the class to important portraits and portrait artists, such as Kehinde Wiley, Amy Sherald, Chaim Soutine, Frida Kahlo, John Singer Sargent, and many more. We'll talk about the importance of portraiture to different cultures, and how portraits (including self-portraits) can be about remembrance, love, protest, and much more than capturing the subject's likeness.
On the evening of the last day, we will have an exhibition and reception for the finished works in our gallery.
While we will provide a good number of supplies in the workshop, students are encouraged to bring items such as their favorite paints and brushes.
