On August 19, we will have our FIRST of THREE communit input meetings. There are two time options (3:30 and 5:30 p.m.) on the 19th to accomodate a wider variety of audiences. Both times will be the same meeting content. This will be both an educational session for our community to learn what an arboretum is, and an input session with activities and opportunities for you to tell us what you want your arboretum to be.
Located at the former Republic Golf Course on Southeast Military, we have secured 188 acres as a green space dedicated to trees for our community to enjoy nature. It will be a leading recreational, ecological, economic, and educational resource for residents and visitors of all ages. It will feature a 'cathedral of trees' with pedestrian and bicycle trails, a nursery to propagate native and climate-resilient trees, nature-based programming, event spaces, and public art displays. We are here to serve you - our community - and we want to hear from you. We are in the early stages of planning an arboretum that will reflect our city's diverse heritage and rich culture, and we want to hear what an arboretum means to you.
