About this Event

Disability Drawing Club's May Meeting: Charm Bracelet Edition!

In this month's activity, people will draw large-scale pictures to add to our giant charm bracelet. Charm bracelets often represent key parts of your personality, including parts of your identity, symbols that stand in for loved ones, all-consuming hobbies, favorite places, and core memories.

Everyone will get to draw multiple charms and add jump rings. attach them onto one large bracelet. People can also draw charms to take home.

Venue: Ground Floor Echo Park

Parking Information:

There is fenced parking lot a few buildings down from Groundfloor on the corner of Glendale and 1st St. If you are able to walk, I recommend parking there. Otherwise, there is free street parking in the residential streets on and around Glendale Blvd. You'll receive an image of a map in the reminder email!

About Disability Drawing Club:

A hangout for people with disabilities, chronic illness, and mental illness!

The Disability Drawing Club holds space for people with disabilities, chronic illness, and mental illness. In this casual meetup, we bond, vent, and commiserate about our shared experiences. Simultaneously, it allows us to be unapologetic about our bodies, and broadens representation of disabled people in drawing.

This safe space welcomes people who identify as disabled, chronically ill, mentally ill, and their caretakers. The club is centered around drawing prompts that open up discussions about our health and wellness.

No drawing experience necessary!

Header Image Description: A picture of a crafty, hand-made charm bracelet pops off against abstract background in different shades of purples. The bracelet charms include animals, trees, hearts, a sun peeking thorugh rainy clouds, and a matcha latte. In large, light green sans serif text, it reads "Disability Drawing Club," followed by "charm bracelet edition" in a script typeface. The fine print reads "May 17, 11:30 AM. Ground Floor Echo Park. Masks encouraged. Zoom simulcast. No drawing experience required!"
