Did you know Tryon was once home to William Gillette — Broadway's most famous Sherlock Holmes? The man who gave the world the deerstalker cap and curved pipe called our little mountain town his haven. He built his home here, named it Thousand Pines, and walked these very streets.
This 4th Friday, channel your inner detective.
The Scavenger Hunt sends individual players or teams of 2–5 on a FREE, walkable photo adventure through downtown Tryon. Spot the hidden, the handsome, and the historic. Talk to locals. Find the unexpected. See Tryon the way Gillette saw it — with curious eyes.
🏆 Prizes include local gift cards + superlative awards (Most Creative, Fastest Team, Best Photo, Best Team Spirit) — AND every team enters a drawing!
📋 HOW IT WORKS:
→ Pick up your list at the registration table
→ Use your phone to photograph items on the list
→ Return before your hour is up
→ Most points wins — but the fun is the point
✨ Free to participate. All ages welcome. Individual and team categories available.
Winners announced with live music around 7pm — stick around and celebrate! Misdemeanor Band will be playing live at the plaza.
