In partnership with the Oklahoma Film Exchange and Pioneer Library System, Uncanny Art House presents a special 4th Friday Film screening of Los Angeles Plays Itself. The film features the work of David Lynch and other filmmakers who have shaped the cinematic mythology of the city.This acclaimed documentary by Thom Andersen explores how Los Angeles has been represented, reimagined, and mythologized on screen. From noir alleyways to dreamy suburbs, it’s a reflection on the blurred line between the real and the imagined.
Following the screening, the Oklahoma Film Exchange team will lead a panel discussion on the film’s themes, its influence on Lynch’s work, and how place and identity inform cinematic storytelling.
Our friends from the Pioneer Library System will be present with relevant books and information on how to get a library card!
