Ross Cooper is co-founder of The House That Love Built and Host of The Art Official Talent Showcase.
What makes me Art OFFICIAL: Spoken word artist that cut my teeth in the Baltimore poetry scene between 2010-2016 performing under the moniker Mosaic. Featured artist in Baltimore, DC, Philadelphia, and other cities in the northeast corridor. Sat at the feet and learned from some of the legends in the genre. Info: The Haiku Battle is a much coveted and well attended event. Are you a haikuist? It is a simple art form taken from Japanese culture that focuses on the art of brevity. The form takes the shape of 17 syllables total, 3 lines, 5-7-5. Here is your chance to battle it out and see if you will be crowned our Inaugural Haiku Battle Champion. Well you have a chance to test those skills here. This event takes 8 competitors for a $150 prize.

Round 1- All 15 Poets will perform a 3 minute poem. 5 poets will be dropped. Round 2- 10 Poets will perform a 2 minute poem. The order will be done from High to Low. Round 1 and Round 2 will be added together for a cumulative score to advance to the last round. 5 poets will be dropped. Round 3- In the last round, 5 Poets will perform a 3 minute poem. There will be a new bout draw for the order before the round begins. The top 3 poets will be awarded as follows: 1st Place- $1,500 2nd Place- $750 3rd Place- $500

Love Forward: Service Project

Info: Once again, Right 2 Write will be giving back to the community and we would love your help with this. We are going to be packing blessing bags with hygiene products and snacks for the unhoused. In addition, we will be writing/delivering hand written short poems to pay it forward in love to the people. Meet us in the morning and pack a bag, write a poem, or join the team to make deliveries.

Poetry Olympics

Info: You have heard of the Olympics before, well here we have the poetry Olympics. In teams of up to 5 people, poets will be competing in this crash course of interactive poetry games to see who will be deemed the champions and going home with the poetry gold. Poets can walk on the day of and join a pickup team or form a team beforehand. Each team will be identified by a different color: Red, Blue, White, and Black. Write original haikus, Identify poetic devices, spot the author, slam trivia, and more. Each game will be high energy and timed to determine the ultimate winner.
