About this Event
Welcome to the 4th Annual Energy Geography Conference!
Event Details:
- Date: Saturday, January 25, 2025
- Location: Online
- Time: 11AM to 3 PM US Eastern Time
This conference is organized by the Energy and Environment Specialty Group (EESG) of the American Association of Geographers (AAG). Join us for an exciting half-day filled with presentations, discussions, and community building related to energy geography.
Farhana Sultana (Professor, Geography and the Environment at Syracuse University) will deliver the opening keynote address. Later in the day, we’ll hear from a panel of energy scholars and practitioners working in non-academic sectors on how they translate theory into action.
The Energy Geography Conference welcomes everyone, regardless of career stage, from graduate students to seasoned energy geographers (broadly defined). Building on the success of previous conferences, we intend for this to be a welcoming, inclusive, and friendly space where we can meet, engage, share ideas, collaborate, and strengthen our EESG community.
In light of the intended interactive nature of this conference, it is a professional expectation for participants to engage throughout the event. Presenters are required to submit their presentation materials in advance of the conference. If you are interested in presenting, you can submit your abstract for consideration here - SUBMIT AN ABSTRACT.
Registration is $5 for EESG members and $10 for non-members. We encourage those who can to “sponsor a graduate student” with an additional suggested donation of $5. Please note: all funds we collect will support EESG’s award recipients.
