About:
Imagine having the beauty and the stability of your community marred with violence to the point that access to food, clothing, shelter, and the ability to attend and complete school is adversely impacted. These are struggles for upwards of 5.5 million Haitians.
The Running Revolution club was founded by two Haitian friends, one living in Haiti and the other away at college in the United States. While studying to become a mathematician and data scientist, Wisly discovered this weird sport he’d never considered: running. It turned out he was pretty good at it. Wisly suggested his childhood friend Albert give running a try as well. The two men discovered that running was a way to stay connected and inspire each other to do bigger and better things. They wanted to share this new outlet with others during the pandemic to help foster a sense of community during these challenging times. As the club grew, the two knew they could use this to create connections; the club became about empowering its younger members to pursue their education through running and physical fitness. To do so, Wisly created running events in the States while Albert created events in Haiti; they used the entry fees to pay the full tuition of kids and young adults and provide running gear, hydration, and proper nutrition.
