What people are saying about the tour:
I have done this tour several times over the years and I always learn so much! I appreciate the great work the Whatcom Women in Timber group do to educate others about timber. Sam Low, State Representative District 39
Having attended several Woods Tours over the years, I look forward to it each year. They are a fantastic opportunity to learn and connect with forestry experts and stakeholders. Kaylee Galloway, Whatcom County Councilmember
I've taken this tour for two years in a row, and learn something new about our forests and the people who love and care for them every time. Jennifer Plombon, Blaine, WA
The Woods Tour is a great opportunity to see how our forests help support schools, and to meet the hard-working people making it happen. Russ Pfeiffer-Hoyt, President, Mount Baker School Board
[The Woods Tour] provides informative, in-the-woods lessons about how forestry is actually practiced. You'll see forestry in action, hear from the professionals who do it as a livelihood, and have the opportunity for wide-ranging discussions. Stevan Harrell, Professor Emeritus - UW School of Environmental and Forest Sciences
I have been on several of the Woods Tours and have learned more about current practices striving to maintain a viable forest products sector in the Whatcom economy while protecting basic ecosystem functions. I have not been to the same location twice and have met and networked with a variety of community members seeking to find common ground toward a variety of goals. Although I have spent 35 years in salmon harvest management and ecosystem conservation, I learn something new every time. The views are magnificent and refreshments a bonus. Alan Chapman, Supervisor, Whatcom Conservation District
