About this Event

2026 marks the 40th year of the world famous Peak to Valley Race presented by

Forty years ago, standing on the summit of Whistler Mountain, Crazy Canuck Dave Murray and Stephanie Sloan had a simple idea: race from the top to the bottom, just the way you’d ski it naturally; fast, fun, and full of challenge. That spark became the Peak to Valley, a true Whistler original and one of the longest giant slalom races on Earth.

What started as a “citizen’s race” for anyone who loved to ski has grown into an iconic two-day event that captures the heart and history of Whistler. Over 5.6 kilometres and nearly 1,400 vertical metres, racers tackle approximately 180 gates, quad-burning turns, and every type of snow the mountain can throw at them. All in the name of fun, camaraderie, and a touch of bragging rights.

From legends and lifers to first-timers and families, teams of four test their endurance and celebrate their love for the sport across generations. The only thing tougher than finishing the course is keeping your legs under you for the après celebration. Name a better way to top-off the weekend than to celebrate racers, family and friends with an awards banquet packed with live music and giveaways at the Roundhouse Lodge.

Join us on February 27th & 28th 2026 as we celebrate 40 years of Peak to Valley—four decades of speed, friendship, and the pure joy of skiing with your squad. Whether you’ve raced it once or all 39 times, this year’s event promises to be one for the books. Honouring the community that’s kept this race alive and every skier who’s ever pointed their tips toward Creekside and gone for it.

All teams must meet the following criteria:

Teams are made up of four people and they have to be co-ed (a mix of male and female).
Two racers must race Friday and two on Saturday. NO EXCEPTIONS. Teams with fewer than four race times will be disqualified.

All racers must be at least 19 years old and must have signed a current 2025/2026 Whistler Blackcomb Special Event Waiver before they will be permitted to race.
Team categories are based on the combined ages of all four team members and age is calculated as of December 31, 2025.
Helmets are mandatory.

SCHEDULE

Thursday, February 26th 2026 - Captains Meeting at Dusty's Creekside from 5pm to 7pm. Last chance to modify your team details and racers will receive a complimentary glass of See Ya Later Ranch wine. *At least one (1) racer from each team must attend.

Friday, February 27th 2026 - Day 1 of Racing (2 Team Members)

Saturday, February 28th 2026 - Day 2 of Racing (2 Team Members). Followed by an awards ceremony, banquet and after-party at Roundhouse Lodge. Live music, drinks, food, prizing and all the fun in between!
