Testosterone, tantrums, and tenacity: a trans journey through manhood.“Smart, warm, confident… a crucial form of cultural witness.” – Colin Thomas, Fresh Sheet Reviews
What happens when a Black man hits puberty at 39? You get 40 Year Old Puberty—a hilarious and heartfelt one-man show by Ti Malik Coleman that blends comedy, vulnerability, and the joy of self-discovery. From first crushes to facing puberty’s final bosses, this storytelling adventure has it all. And it’s an audience favorite! Winner of 11 awards festivals, including Best Solo Show of DUMBO (Brooklyn) Pride Comedy Festival, Spirit of the Fringe (Victoria Fringe), Volunteer Choice Award (Vancouver Fringe), and EIGHT Charm City Fringe Awards including All the Gold Stars, One Actor Wonder and Theater Everlasting.
Ti Malik Coleman is a writer, comedian and filmmaker based in Baltimore, MD. He has a long and celebrated history with Baltimore Improv Group (BIG), a place he once considered his second (and sometimes first) home, and where he honed his artistic voice. He is a former member of BIG's oldest house troupe Plan B and co-founder of the BIG's legacy troupe Casually Dope. During his time at BIG, he taught youth and adults, and delivered BIG programming in local schools. He was an initiator and pioneer, the first openly trans house troupe member and teacher, established and directed BIG’s only teen troupe, and founded BIG’s first BIPOC affinity jam space.
He makes his triumphant return to the BIG stage with The 40 Year Old Puberty: The Homecoming King, for a special Juneteenth performance. Accompanied by host and special guest, Jess Solomon.
