About this Event
A 4 week course for anyone wanting to be more creative! You don't have to be an artist or have an big idea to join - the aim of this course is to help you to unlock your creative expression by using the tools of yoga to quiet the chatter in your mind and drop into creative mode. Having a personal creative practice, whether it be doodling, singing, writing or more, has been show to lower stress and promote wellbeing. Sessions will be friendly and informal, with a maximum of 8 people to keep it small and personal.
Each week we will spend 30-35 minutes practising gentle yoga asana (movement), before jumping into a different activity. See the schedule below for more details!
SCHEDULE:
Week 1 (19th April) Yoga and breathwork
Theme: Listen
Your breath is your inner soundtrack! This week will be a mixture of gentle yoga and breathwork. We will explore different breath practices (pranayama), which you can use in your daily life to find balance, lower stress and boost your energy.
Week 2 (22nd April) Yoga and journaling
Theme: Explore
Creative practice is all about the process, not the result. After our movement practice, we will open our journals (provided) and start to scribble. Don't worry if you haven't 'journaled' before - I will provide a variety of prompts and practices for you to try. There is no requirement to share, it's all about giving it a go and seeing what comes out.
Week 3 (29th April) Yoga and yoga nidra
Theme: Visualise
Drop into your subconscious mind and let your imagination flourish. In the third week, following gentle yoga, I will guide you in a yoga nidra practice. Yoga nidra translates as 'yogic sleep', and involves setting an intention (sankalpa), a body scan, visualisation and breath awareness. It can be deeply relaxing and a wonderful addition to your creative practice.
Week 4 (6th May) Yoga and create
Theme: Play
It's play time! In the final week, we will use our yoga practice to land in the present, before having a go at writing a short poem or if you prefer, a line drawing. Again - no pressure! It doesn't have to be the best poem ever written (it probably won't be), and I will give some prompts and structures to help you get going. You can share or rip it up at the end!
Your ticket includes:
- Admittance to all 4 sessions
- A journal to use during the course
- A tea (bring your own cup)
- Biscuits, of course
Cancellations within 7 days of the first session are non-refundable and non-transferrable.
