Demonstrations will occur at the beginning of each session, followed by group exercises, and one-on-one guidance. Students will be able to handle their pieces through the entire ceramic process, starting from a lump of clay all the way through to glazing. Topics include learning how to wedge clay, centering on the wheel, throwing forms like cups, bowls, plates, vases, etc., trimming, and glazing. Everyone is given creative freedom to develop their own personal aesthetic.
By the end of the class, you’ll have a good understanding of basic ceramic studio practices, and you will learn what's needed to become a member of Erie ClaySpace!
The class fee includes 12.5 pounds of clay, all glazing materials, firings, and additional practice hours in the studio. Extra clay is available for purchase as needed.
