Welcome!
Join The Studio’s instructor, Amanda Shaffer as she teaches you to further your sewing skills with a lined tote bag that includes pockets and an inside zipper!
Amanda has been sewing for over 15 years. Her love of sewing started in high school learning from her grandma, enrolling her her high school fashion class, then later furthering her education and gaining her bachelor's in apparel design.
Class info:
Confident Beginner (students must know how to operate a sewing machine. This class is good for someone learning expand their sewing skills into bag making)
Ages: 18+
4 weeks long/ 1 class per week
Thursdays in April (4/2, 4/16, 4/23, 4/30)

Learning objectives:
Following a sewing pattern to create a tote bag complete with a lining, pockets, and interior zipper pouch.
Skills learned:
-Following a sewing pattern
-Cutting and pinning fabric and patterns correctly
-Sewing different types of seams
-Learning what a zipper foot is and how to use it to install our zipper in our interior pouch
-How to sew bag straps
Other Important information:
All materials and tools included. We provide sewing machines but if a student has a machine, they are incouraged to bring and learn on it.

-A reminder email will be sent a few days prior to class
-If a student is sick they are to stay home until they feel better, notify us as soon as possible (661)889-6655
-Once a class has been paid for, any money that has been given to the studio is non-refundable. Transfers are allowed.
-Payment options for remaining balance: Cash, check (payable to The Studio Bakersfield), Card can be used but will incur a 3% service fee.
