Hello everyone, my name is Melisa and I’m thrilled to be your guide on this journey through yoga. With over 25 years of experience in the field, I bring a unique combination of expertise as a Physical Therapist, Professional Integrative Yoga Therapist, Kripalu certified yoga teacher, Bodyworker and Watsu practitioner.
My background in Physical Therapy allows me to understand the body’s mechanics deeply, ensuring that our practice is safe and beneficial for everyone, regardless of your current fitness level. As an Integrative Yoga Therapist, I focus on blending traditional yoga practices with therapeutic techniques to address individual needs and promote overall well-being.
Throughout this series, my aim is to create a supportive and nurturing environment where you can explore your body, enhance your flexibility, and cultivate mindfulness. 4 week Yoga Series
Welcome to our four-week beginner yoga series, designed to help you discover the transformative power of yoga. Each week, we will focus on foundational postures, breathing techniques, and mindfulness practices that will enhance your physical flexibility, strength, and mental clarity.
Week 1: Introduction to Basic Postures
- Learn essential poses such as downward dog, mountain pose, and child’s pose. (With modifications provided).
- Focus on alignment and breath awareness.
Week 2: Building Strength and Flexibility
- Introduce more dynamic yet gentle sequences, incorporating sun salutations.
- Emphasize the connection between breath and movement.
Week 3: Exploring Balance and Stability
- Practice balancing poses like tree pose and warrior.
- Discuss the importance of grounding and stability in your practice.
Week 4: Integrating Mindfulness and Relaxation
- Delve into restorative poses and guided meditation.
- Learn techniques for integrating yoga into daily life for stress relief.
