Welcome to our 4-week Clay Human Face Course! This course will provide the development of beginning skills and knowledge in creating a face (from behind the ears forward) in bas relief format. We will start with an exploration of the person we want to create regarding personality, history and emotion.
Session Description
Session I
- Building a newspaper and masking tape armature. It is very important to build a good working armature, so that the piece will take on a look that we intend.
Session II
Covering the armature with clay
- Creating facial features: eyes, nose, mouth, ear
- Beginning stage of refinement of facial features with consideration given to expression
Session III
- Continuing the refinement process to reach point of finished product
Session IV
- Learning finishing the phase (removing armature, checking clay thickness, attaching hanging loops)
- Completion of finishing touches
Allen will be providing images of planes of the face illustrations and photos of clay faces done by some wonderful artists.
*Class meets Wednesdays from 5:30pm - 8:30pm.
