This month is a time to raise awareness about teen dating violence
About this Event
FEBRUARY is Teen Dating Violence Awareness and
Prevention Month (TDVAM).
This month is a time to raise awareness about teen dating violence and educate teens on healthy relationships and simple steps to defend themselves.
Dauntlez is a 501(c) non profit organization whose vision is to transform communities by empowering individuals specially women and teens to prevent, resist, and/or defend against different forms of personal violence. We do this through workshops and classes to educate the public on the mental and physical strategies for prevention and defense.
Teen dating abuse is a public health crisis and according to the 2013 National Youth Risk Behavior Survey 1 in 3 high school students experience either physical or sexual violence, or both, by someone they are dating or going out with.
This workshop is a consolidated and combined curriculum from:
- CDC Dating Matters Program
- Break the Cycle Org program
- American Women's Self-Defense Association program
The workshop will cover the following topics:
- Healthy relationships and boundaries
- Red flags of an abusive relationship
- Factors that contribute to abuse
- Physical self-defense techniques to defend against violence
- The workshop is open to teens 12 to 17 years old.
The workshop is on Sunday, Feb 16, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
REGISTRATION is REQUIRED and PARENTS must register their teens to sign the waiver forms.
