3rd Sunday Jazz Concerts is a free monthly concert series celebrating the power of live jazz, creative community, and the enduring legacy of Black American Music in Indianapolis. Created by Brandon Meeks, the series brings together audiences of all ages for an immersive live music experience rooted in connection, improvisation, storytelling, and cultural exchange.
More than a concert, 3rd Sunday Jazz Concerts has become a creative gathering space where listeners can experience world-class musicianship in an intimate, welcoming atmosphere. The series regularly features acclaimed regional artists from Indianapolis, Chicago, Cincinnati, Louisville, and beyond while helping strengthen Indianapolis’ growing reputation as a vibrant jazz city.
This year’s concerts will also serve as presentations of Unsung Giants, Brandon Meeks’ award-winning project honoring the overlooked stories and lasting influence of Indiana jazz legacy artists. Each concert will spotlight a different Indiana jazz figure through live performance, storytelling, and historical reflection—connecting audiences to the musicians, mentors, and cultural architects whose contributions helped shape Indiana’s rich jazz tradition.
