About this Event

Welcome to the 3rd Annual Karen Sullivan Memorial Walk!

Come join us for a meaningful day at Wildwood Park as we honor the memory of Karen Sullivan. This event is a great opportunity to remember and celebrate her life while enjoying a beautiful walk in nature. Walkers are $25 each (can be paid day of event with cash, check, zelle, or venmo). Kids are free!

Karen was a native of Licking County and worked at the Owens Corning Fiberglas Technical Center in Granville for nearly 25 years. She resided in Granville for most of those years with her husband Tim and son Brian.

After retirement, Karen and Tim moved to Dublin and later, Powell, Ohio for proximity to their son Brian, daughter-in-law Rebecca, and grandkids Kaiden, Grayson and Hadleigh.

Karen was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2010 and aggressively battled the symptoms with workout sessions at PDNextSteps, under the direction of Melissa Carlson. Karen cherished the support and camaraderie of her classmates at that facility.

Karen was diagnosed with a rapidly growing form of brain cancer in September 2021. She passed away on January 24, 2022, after several months of chemo and radiation therapies.

Karen stoically and cheerfully fought multiple health related challenges over the years. She was a role model that made each of us a better person. She subtly showed us the way and then let us evolve.

We wish to acknowledge the influence that she had on our lives with an annual memorial walk to preserve her legacy.

All financial proceeds from the event will be used to donate to organizations whose mission is to “Delay the Disease” and mitigate the symptoms of those afflicted with Parkinson’s.

Any organization or individual interested in helping to sponsor this event and support this cause can send a donation to “The Karen Sullivan Memorial Fund” at the Licking County Foundation, P.O. Box 4212, 30 N. Second Street, Newark, Ohio, 43058-4212. Gifts may also be made online at www.thelcfoundation.org.
