Our 6th Annual 35mm Film Festival returns on April 17th-19th! We are thrilled to welcome Turner Classic Movies host Alicia Malone as this year’s honoree of the Lou DiCrescenzo Cinematic Arts Award. She will join us in person as we showcase nine classic films from the archival vaults of national institutions like the Library of Congress, the UCLA Film & Television Archive, the George Eastman Museum, and more. Each feature is accompanied with an introduction and an era-appropriate pre-show of vintage snipes, trailers, and shorts. The last day of the festival continues with one of the most beautifully choregraphed musicals of Hollywood's Golden Age-DAMES! George Willeman, Nitrate Vault Leader at the LOC will introduce the film.
𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗲: When a multimillionaire with a disdain for Broadway decides his fortune can only be inherited by virtuous relatives, he visits his cousins to ensure they fit the bill. Little do they know, their daughter has just been cast in her stage debut! A delightful stage door comedy featuring many of Hollywood’s most talented singers/dancers like Joan Blondell, Dick Powell, and Ruby Keeler. But the real stars of the movie are the eight mesmerizing kaleidoscopic dance numbers shot with a bird’s eye view by legendary choreographer Busby Berkeley, including the iconic “I Only Have Eyes for You” number.
