About this Event
Written by Ricardo Pitts-Wiley, 35 MILES FROM DETROIT is a semi-autobiographical one-man play that follows the final hours of Alexander Toussaint, a survivor of a cataclysmic nuclear blast that has devastated America near the turn of the century. Unclear on the extent of the devastation and aware of his imminent demise, Toussaint is determined to leave a final testimony for future generations. 35 MILES FROM DETROIT is a depiction of often overlooked history and the complex realities of being a Black man navigating life in America in the second half of the 20th century. Originally written and performed by Pitts-Wiley in 1989, this production, headlined by Amos Hamrick Jr., marks the first time another actor will play the role of Alexander Toussaint.
Runtime: 75 minutes. No intermission.
