Vom 5. bis zum 10. Mai 2026 wird Stuttgart erneut zum zentralen Treffpunkt für Animationsfilm, Filmschaffende und Publikum. Beim ITFS trifft internationale Animationskunst auf regionale Kreativszene, Filmbildung und Branchenförderung. Das ITFS feiert künstlerische Animation in all ihren Facetten – von Wettbewerben und kuratierten Filmprogrammen bis hin zu Workshops, Talks und Open-Air-Screenings.
Der inhaltliche Schwerpunkt liegt in diesem Jahr auf der Scherenschnitt-Technik. Damit würdigt das ITFS die Filmpionierin Lotte Reiniger und feiert das 100-jährige Jubiläum des ältesten erhaltenen abendfüllenden Animationsfilm DIE ABENTEUER DES PRINZEN ACHMED.
Gezielte Angebote für Kinder, Jugendliche, Familien und Bildungseinrichtungen gibt es bei Young ITFS: Filme, Workshops, Mitmachangebote und pädagogische Formate vermitteln Wissen und laden dazu ein, Animationsfilm aktiv zu erleben, zu hinterfragen und kreativ zu werden.

From 5 to 10 May 2026, Stuttgart will once again become a central meeting point for animation, filmmakers and audiences. At ITFS, international animation meets the regional creative scene, film education and industry support.
The ITFS celebrates artistic animation in all its facets – from competitions and curated film programmes to workshops, talks and open-air screenings.
This year's focus is on the silhouette technique. With this, the ITFS honours film pioneer Lotte Reiniger and celebrates the 100th anniversary of the oldest existing feature-length animated film, THE ADVENTURES OF PRINCE ACHMED.
Young ITFS offers an expanded programme for children, young people, families and schools: films, workshops, hands-on activities and educational formats convey knowledge and invite participants to experience animation actively, engage critically and become creative.
