Introducing our Keynote Speaker: Angela P. Dodson

Her forthcoming book, We’ve Been Here Before, co-authored with her late husband Michael Days, is scheduled for release in June 2026.
Dodson’s extensive career includes serving as executive editor of Black Issues Book Review and hosting the award-winning radio program "Black Catholics, Yes!" A native of Beckley, West Virginia, she holds a bachelor’s degree from Marshall University and a master’s from American University. Dedicated to her roots, she helped establish the Dodson, Dotson, and Hairston scholarship at Marshall University to support underprivileged students from southern West Virginia. She was honored with the Trailblazer Award from the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists in 2018.
Reserved tickets are $40 donation per person, with 8-seat corporate table reservations available for $400. Additional donations are welcome! Funds raised will help the Carter G. Woodson Memorial Foundation provide academic scholarships, and to realize its vision of a Black History and Civil Rights History Museum in Huntington’s Fairfield community, through restoration of the Memphis Tennessee Garrison home.
