About this Event
Join Species Unite for a free community screening of 30,000 Monkeys in Our Backyard, the unbelievable and shocking true story of a small Georgia town fighting back against one of America's most controversial industries.
On December 11, 2023, city officials in Bainbridge, Georgia, a tight-knit town of just over 14,000 residents, quietly approved plans for a facility that would house up to 30,000 monkeys destined to be sold into painful and even fatal laboratory experiments. Within weeks, the community rallied in their hundreds, launching legal action and thrusting their town onto the frontlines of America's multi-billion-dollar animal testing industry.
Told through personal accounts of residents, scientists, ex-monkey lab employees, and legal experts, this 25-minute independent documentary, executive produced by Academy Award-nominated actor James Cromwell, is a powerful testament to what ordinary people can do when they fight back.
Following the screening, join us for a Q&A with Executive Producer Elizabeth Novogratz, plus complimentary vegan snacks and drinks.
Spaces are limited to 50 guests so grab your ticket now to secure your spot!
