TBRI® for Caregivers: 3 Part Training Series. Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®) is the gold-standard in care for children who have experienced early childhood adversity. This series is geared toward foster, kinship and adoptive parents. However, it works for every child.
In this Three-part series you will learn the three main TBRI® principles, the corresponding strategies and practical tools to implement them. TBRI® is a holistic, attachment-based, evidence-based, and trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the needs of vulnerable children. Because trauma impacts all aspects of a child's life oftentimes traditional parenting methods don't work. This series will equip you with the knowledge and tools you need to help the child in your care get back on their appropirate developmental trajectory and strategies for handling challenging behaviors.
July 14 The Key to Calm, Regulated Parenting Learn the why behind TBRI®, how stress impacts the brain and body and what you can do to initiate hope and healing. This lesson will forever change the way you see behavior and how to address the root causes behind them.
July 15 Attachment & Connecting Principles Learn what happens when attachment is disrupted, how to communicate in a way that establishes felt safety for your child and how your own adult attachment impacts your parenting. Practical tools to engage your children for lasting connection.
July 16 Empowering & Correcting Principles Learn how trauma impacts the child's physiological and enviromental needs. Gain insight on how to disarm challenging fear based behaviors, replace them with appropriate ones, balance structure and nurture and set appropirate expectations..
This training is paired with the Children's program called Summer Blast. You may register children to particapate with summer blast and the trainings will start after drop-off and end in time for you to pick up your kids. Although it's best to attend all three trainings in sequential order, you may join as many as your schedule allows. Participation certificates will be issued for each training attended.
Presenter Info: The class is taught by Tristen McGhee, RDN, MEd in Neuroscience & Trauma, Adoptive Mom & Certified Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®) Practitioner.
This class is a part of our Foster & Kinship Care Education Series (FKCE) to help you stay current with best practices in parenting. Thank you for all you do to help children thrive! Click here to register for future classes.
