Frequently Asked Questions
🎬 What is the Movie Challenge?
At this unique event, members of the public are invited to watch a short, powerful film that Reveals standard industry practices. In return, they receive a free vegan treat.
It’s an engaging and effective way to spark meaningful conversations about animal rights—simple, impactful, and surprisingly approachable for passersby.
______
🧠How should I prepare for the event?
Our events are designed to jump in and participate in with ease!
The only thing we ask is that you RSVP via this page so we can plan accordingly!
If you’re planning to take part in outreach conversations, it might also be helpful to create an account on our MyStats platform ahead of time. It’s a great way to track the impact of your advocacy: https://mystats.wtf/
You can also find the full MyStats startup guide here if you’d like to be fully prepared to use it on the day:

______
⏰ What time should I arrive?
You’re welcome to drop in at any time! We know everyone has different schedules, and we’d never want anyone to feel like they can’t join just because they’re running late or only have a bit of time.
That said, if you’re able to arrive at the start of the event, it really helps us get off to a strong and smooth beginning—especially with setup, roles, and getting in the flow as a team.
______
🧢 What should I wear/bring?
Wear whatever you feel comfortable in! We just ask that you avoid wearing any animal-derived clothing (like leather, wool, or silk), and try to avoid clothing with vegan or animal rights messaging—this helps preserve the element of surprise for Movie Challenge participants.
We’ll provide all other equipment and materials. You might find it handy to bring a water bottle, however.
______
🙋‍♀️ What roles are there at the event?
There are three key roles that keep the Movie Challenge running smoothly:
• Holding signs – helping attract attention and draw people in
• Setting people up with the Movie Challenge – guiding participants to the video stations and helping them get set up with headphones and a tablet
• Outreaching – offering the vegan treat and having relaxed, friendly, and meaningful
conversations afterwards
All roles are equally important, and none require previous experience. We’re here to give you as much support as you need to guide you through whatever you’re doing.
______
💬 Can I still contribute if I don’t feel comfortable doing outreach?
Absolutely! Although it might surprise you how simple and relaxed outreach is in practice, it’s completely normal for volunteers not to feel up to participating in outreach—even experienced ones.
Your presence alone is incredibly valuable. There are so many other important ways to support the event—like holding signs to draw people in, helping set people up with the Movie Challenge, or simply hanging out with the team.
______
🎓 Do you offer any training?
You don’t need any formal training or experience to make a meaningful contribution at our events.
That said, if you’d like to brush up on your communication skills, we highly recommend attending one of our outreach workshops:

If you can’t find a time that works, you can also check out the digital training workbook:

______
🤝 Can I buddy up with someone?
Definitely! If it’s your first event - or even if it’s not - just let us know and we’ll pair you with one of our more experienced volunteers. Whether you want to shadow someone during outreach or just feel more confident with a partner nearby, we’ve got your back.
______
🌱 Can pre-vegans participate in outreach events?
Absolutely! Non-vegans and vegetarians are more than welcome to join us at outreach events. We just ask that only vegans take part in direct outreach conversations with members of the public—this helps keep our messaging clear and consistent.
That said, there are plenty of other meaningful ways to get involved—like holding signs, assisting with headset setup for the Movie Challenge, helping with logistics, or just being part of the team. We really value your support and are always here to encourage you on your journey.
______
🌧 What if it rains?
If the weather turns wet, don’t stress—we’ll post an update in the group chat
or event page if we need to relocate.
If the weather’s really severe and it impacts our ability to engage the public, we’ll likely just go grab some lunch together and enjoy a bit of team bonding time.
______
