About this Event
Event Photos

Fancy heading away from the crowded areas of the Peaks to explore somewhere really peaceful? Where we can appreciate the rugged landscape of Combs Moss and spot the nature that calls this moorland home? If you're a hill bagger, you'll definitely appreciate the fact that we tick off 3 Peak District Ethels on this loop, too: Corbar Hill, Combs Head and Black Edge. Two of these are also marked by trig points so we can get those all important summits selfies!

Come join a group of like-minded women to learn about the fascinating history and geology of this stunning area of the Peak District National Park.

Distance: 6.5 miles/10.5km

Level: Easy/Moderate/Challenging: mostly easy footpaths and trails with some uphill sections. Some walking on uneven moorland terraain. Stiles to climb.

Elevation: 1110ft/341m

Time: 3.5-4.5 hours (finish at 2.30pm at the latest)

Who will be your guide?

I’m Emily, founder of Peak Outdoor Coaching, and I’m a Hill and Moorland Leader based in Glossop at the edge of the Dark Peak. I’ve always been outdoorsy since being a young girl but hiking became a real obsession in 2019 when I started to go solo. I aim to inspire other women to learn the many benefits of exploring in the outdoors and I’m passionate about sharing my love for adventure with you!

Feel free to check out our website: Peak Outdoor Coaching and follow us on Instagram and Facebook: @peakoutdoorcommunity

We will meet at 9.45am and be leaving at 10am.

Toilets:

There are no toilets at the car park. There are none along the route, but I will point out discreet spots for 'wild wees'! There are toilets at the Pavillion Gardens car park.

Safety:

The whole point of our walks is that they are enjoyable and memorable experiences for everyone so we will keep to a slow and steady pace. It's about taking in the views, learning about the history and geology of the area and being in nature, not about rushing to the finish line. Having said that, you are responsible for your own health and safety and with all outdoor activities, there can be risks involved. If you are unsure as to whether you are fit to come on this walk, please either consult your doctor or let us know your concerns. Please inform us of any medical conditions prior to the walk. Every participant MUST complete a medical form a minimum of 24 hours before the event begins (this will be emailed across).

Our leaders are qualified Hill and Moorland and Mountain Leaders and level 3 Outdoor First Aid trained so they will be on hand in case of an emergency.

Dogs:

I'm afraid we will be walking on restricted access land so dogs are not permitted.

Refund Policy*:

Refunds will only be given if the event is cancelled. If you can no longer attend you are more than welcome to sell your ticket to someone else but please let me know if you do so. No swaps to other events.

And FINALLY:

This walk will be going ahead whatever the weather, unless I deem the conditions dangerous so be ready to embrace the good old British weather! If I do have to cancel the walk for safety reasons, I will suggest one more date for the walk to be rearranged or you can redeem your ticket on one other walk on a date suitable to you.
