About this Event
zAmya Theater Project and Equalhealth’s Campaign Against Racism (CAR) - Twin Cities Chapter invite you to join us for a 3-day training, May 8-10, in Polarized Theatre of the Oppressed with Dr. Chen Alon, Israeli activist, scholar, and co-founder of Combatants for Peace.
What if polarization could be a starting point rather than an endpoint? In this Theatre of the Oppressed workshop, Dr. Chen Alon guides participants to work directly with division—reshaping conflict into trust, alliance, and the possibility of shared struggle. Through embodied practices, participants will learn to playfully transform different perspectives into collective action. Dr. Alon will be joining the training online via Zoom, while zAmya staff help facilitate in person.
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A 3-DAY TRAINING, MAY 8-10: Eventbrite does not display this correctly! We'll begin at 5:30 on the evening of May 8th with dinner and community building. Breakfast is provided from 8:30-9am Saturday May 9th, followed by training activities from 9am-4pm, with a lunch break included. The training will finish from 1-4pm on Sunday afternoon, followed by a community dinner.
This training is pay-what-you-can and includes a free option; please choose a price that matches your income level. For those with means, your financial support allows us to make this training accessible to everyone.
Participants with lived experience of homelessness will receive one $20 gift card for each day they attend; please use code word "Expert" when checking in at the training.
Ages 16+ welcome; participants age 13-16 must attend with an accompanying adult. For ages 12 and under, please contact Esther Ouray, our Company Manager, at [email protected] to discuss.

He is currently the head of the Community Theatre and Artivism (Art & Activism) Program in the Theatre Arts Department at Tel-Aviv University.
zAmya Theater Project uses the powerful combination of lived experience and artistic expression to motivate acts of housing justice for all
EqualHealth’s Campaign Against Racism (CAR) is organizing to uncover the historical connections between racism and capitalism to radically imagine a future in which sociocultural, political and economic systems work towards health equity, rather than against it.
Together, zAmya and CAR view housing as healthcare and are using Theater of the Oppressed to build solidarity between healthcare workers and people with lived experience of homelessness.
