Join us on our 3-day birding adventure to Southwestern Ontario, prime bird migration territory on the northern shores of Lake Erie.
We kick things off at Rondeau Provincial Park, one of Ontario’s top migration hotspots, where an expert guide helps you sharpen your spotting skills and maybe even add a few new ticks to your bird spotting list. After a rewarding day in the field, we swap hiking boots for hotel luxury at Caesars Windsor Resort.
Day two keeps the momentum going. We start with a relaxed, self-guided wander through the Ojibway Nature Complex—perfect for those who like to take their time and follow the birds wherever they lead. After a casual lunch break, it’s on to Point Pelee National Park, where things get exciting. With expert guides leading the way, we head out to “The Point,” the southernmost tip of mainland Canada, for prime migration action and a fabulous photo opportunity. Then it’s onto the marsh boardwalk and for those interested, climb the lookout tower for a "bird's eye view" of the marsh, excuse the intention pun! After departing Point Pelee we make our way to Woodstock for a comfortable overnight stop, with a dinner break along the way.
On day three, we get up close and personal with migration at the Long Point Bird Observatory. Watching bird banding in action is a real highlight—you’ll get a tour of their their bird catching nets and then see bird banding up close in a way that most birders only dream about. It’s hands-on, fascinating, and a great way to wrap up the birding portion of the trip. Before heading back to Toronto, we sit down for a well-deserved lunch buffet at the lovely Elmhurst Inn Resort —because after three days of birding, you’ve definitely earned it.
