This training will take place at DCF's Western Regional Office on Main Street. Other logistics will be shared with registered attendees before the event.
DESCRIPTION:
This training is the ideal starting place for new parent educators as well as those with experience who are new to Mark Perlman's Nurturing Fathers’ curriculum. Specific topics include: behavior management, personal power, effective communication, family support principles, and the building of a positive self-concept. The training also addresses Nurturing Fathers’ Program implementation and the whys and hows of father engagement.
TRAINING OBJECTIVES:
Through a mix of small and large group discussions, participatory lecture, interactive exercises, and group practice session activities, participants will:
• gain understanding in the Philosophy of Nurturing® Parenting Programs
• learn the steps for implementing the Nurturing Fathers’ Program
• learn effective methods for increasing positive parenting and enhancing relationships
• learn a strength-based approach to working with fathers
• increase their readiness to facilitate the Nurturing Fathers’ Program
