About this Event
Disability Drawing Club's March Meeting: Cyanotype Edition!
Founder Renée Reizman will introduce people to the art of cyanotype, an analogue photography method that uses the sun to expose photographs. In this session, we will add our drawings to pre-coated cyanotype paper and collectivley creative a timeline that reflects upon our past, present, and future.
There will also be some test-paper provided so you can play around with cyanotype and take home some work.
Feel free to bring in objects you may want to add to the canvas. Natural elements like leaves, grass, and flowers are great for the canvas, as well as fabrics and trims with see-through qualities like mesh, lace, or eyelets.
Venue: Ground Floor Echo Park
Parking Information:
There is fenced parking lot a few buildings down from Groundfloor on the corner of Glendale and 1st St. If you are able to walk, I recommend parking there. Otherwise, there is free street parking in the residential streets on and around Glendale Blvd. You'll receive an image of a map in the reminder email!
About Disability Drawing Club:
A hangout for people with disabilities, chronic illness, and mental illness!
The Disability Drawing Club holds space for people with disabilities, chronic illness, and mental illness. In this casual meetup, we bond, vent, and commiserate about our shared experiences. Simultaneously, it allows us to be unapologetic about our bodies, and broadens representation of disabled people in drawing.
This safe space welcomes people who identify as disabled, chronically ill, mentally ill, and their caretakers. The club is centered around drawing prompts that open up discussions about our health and wellness.
No drawing experience necessary!
