2nd Annual Spoken Word and Poetry Slam

Celebrating Maryland's Diverse Creativity with a 2nd Annual Spoken Word and Poetry Slam at Busboys and Poets! Get ready to experience an electrifying afternoon filled with raw emotions, powerful words, and captivating performances by Youth in the Arts. Pre-Selected students ages 13 to 18 will perform original literary pieces in front of a live audience on February 16th, 12-3pm. Monetary prizes will be awarded for the first, second and third place performers. We are excited that our Celebrity Judges and MC will include:

• Marita Golden (Judge) - Author of "The Wide Circumference of Love"
• Victoria Christopher Murray (Judge) - Author of "Harlem Rhapsody" and "The Personal Librarian"
• Shannon Sanders (Judge) - Author of "Company" and "The Great Wherever" (Holt, July 2026)
• Andre Taylor (Judge) - Author of "Bridge Over Aggravated Troubles"
• Saniya Pearson (MC)- Prince George's County Youth Poet Laureate, 2024 and Author
