Bring your extra shells to trade or gift to fellow collectors and expand your own shell-lection. If your beach bucket is getting too packed, thin out your shoal by swapping away duplicates for something new. Hunt high and low for that elusive conch or scallop you’ve been dreaming of—no shell left unturned!
Swap stories of salty adventures, share your most shell-shocking finds, and pick up pro tips & tricks from seasoned shell seekers. Whether you’re a rookie whelker or a seasoned shell-ebrity, there’s something for every tide-turner.

Sanibel Shell & Swap Event Guidelines
Welcome to the Shell & Swap – a free community event for shellers to share, trade, and connect! Whether you're a casual collector or a seasoned sheller, this is your opportunity to discover new treasures and help others complete their collections.
Event Details
Location: Sanibel Recreation Center
Date & Time: Friday, June 19th; 11am-1pm
Cost: Free to attend and participate
Registration Required: Yes – advance registration is mandatory to reserve table space.
Who Can Participate?
Open to all shell collectors and enthusiasts – beginners and pros alike!
Must be pre-registered to display or trade your shells.
What to Bring
Your “extra” or duplicate shells to share or swap.
Display containers, trays, or bags (table space provided with registration).
Labels or information about shells (optional but encouraged for learning).
What NOT to Bring
No live shells – only empty shells, ethically collected.
No selling allowed – this is a swap/share event only.
No commercially purchased shells – only personal collection items.
Table Space & Setup
Each registered participant will share table space.
Set-up begins at 10am.
You are responsible for your own displays and clean-up.
Swapping & Sharing Etiquette
Respect all shellers’ collections and swapping/gifting decisions.
Ask before handling another person’s display.
Trades should be mutually agreed upon – no pressure.
If offering shells freely, clearly mark your "Free Shells" selections.
Environmental Ethics Reminder
We promote responsible shelling:
Take only what you need.
Never collect live shells – it's illegal on Sanibel and harms the ecosystem.
