FAQ:
"How does it work?"
Bring what you are able, take what you will use.
Seeds will be placed on tables, organized by plant type (veggies, flowers, herbs, etc.). Place what you brought in the appropriate spot and exchange with others.
"What kinds of seeds should I bring?"
Any! Yes, at Rooted Farmstead we love our flowers, but this exchange is for ALL gardens. Store bought or self-saved, we welcome them all.
If you are bringing seeds you saved yourself, bring as much information as you know (variety, sun and water requirements, year collected, etc.)
We encourage you to share a story behind what you bring. Maybe they’re heirloom seeds handed down from your grandparents? Or your aunt’s favorite flower? Or you have a favorite recipe to share for the veggies plants you brought? We will provide note cards to share your story.
"Am I taking too much?"
One-for-one exchanges of common store-bought seeds are encouraged (i.e. bring a packet, take a packet). For bulk seeds, 10-20 per is appropriate. Some varieties are rare and hard to find, so in those instances 2 or 3 of a kind is generous. (If you're bringing these types, please mark them as such!)
"What will be provided?"
Empty seed packets, note cards, and pens will be provided compliments of Rooted Farmstead.
"How much does it cost?"
Nothing! Admission is free.
"How do I sign up?"
