Dare Arts has announced a call for entry for the 29th Annual Mollie Fearing Memorial Art Show, which will open at its Gallery in downtown Manteo on Sunday, May 3 at 2:00pm.
Artist Carolina Coto will judge this year’s Mollie Fearing Memorial Art Show. Born in San José, Costa Rica, Coto earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art with an emphasis in Painting from the University of Costa Rica in 2007. She has lived and worked as a full-time artist on the Outer Banks of North Carolina since 2011. Her work is inspired by the landscapes of the Outer Banks, the rhythm of life near the ocean, and the places she has encountered during her travels. The vibrant colors and natural beauty of Costa Rica, where she was born and raised, continue to play an important role in her artistic expression.
Artists wishing to participate in this year’s exhibition can find a prospectus and sign up for a specific time to drop off their work online at DareArts.org/molliefearingshow.
The 29th Annual Mollie Fearing Memorial Art Show, known for showcasing vibrant, eclectic artwork, is held in memory of Mollie Fearing, who was one of the founding members of Dare Arts and the nonprofit’s first president.
The opening reception on Sunday, May 3 is free and open to the public.

After the opening, the show will be on display in Dare Arts Courtroom Gallery during normal gallery hours through May 30. The Gallery is open Tuesday-Friday 10am-5pm and Saturday 10am-4pm.
Businesses interested in sponsoring the 29th Mollie Fearing Memorial Art Show awards should contact Dare Arts Executive Director Jessica Sands at [email protected].
The Mollie Fearing Memorial Art Show was founded and is sponsored every year by Mollie A. Fearing & Associates.
