Following her POA Closing Keynote, award-winning Uzbek filmmaker and artist Saodat Ismailova will embark on unpacking her film archives, with five films over five nights, in the POA Studio.
On 30 April, she will discuss the trajectory of the female universe in her films, followed by the screening of Chillahona.
Synopsis:
In a three-channel video filmed in Tashkent's underground meditation cells, Chillahona captures the essence of self-isolation and devotion. Through intricate visuals intertwining real and mystical realms, Saodat weaves a narrative steeped in Central Asian heritage, invoking female cosmology and ancestral tales to illuminate the human experience.

Accessibility is a core value of Per°Form Open Academy. Tickets to all programmes at Per°Form Open Academy will be on a donation basis, starting at a minimum suggested donation of $10 per ticket (excluding the platform fee).

About Per°Form Open Academy of Arts and Activations
(POA) returns for its second iteration in April 2024. It is a live gathering of 15 Per°Form Fellows from the Global South—Africa, Arab world, Asia, and South America. These fellows, intersectional practitioners across diverse disciplines of activism, film, fashion, design, curation, research, education, visual culture, spoken word, performance, will present their strategies for activating contexts and communities. The 15th Per°Form Fellow from Singapore is Endless Return, a visceral platform of ravers - performance, dance, sound, and conceptual artists - known for their raw, irreverent, unexpected, and migratory pop-up parties.
With an 18-day programming, this year's POA expands its range beyond keynotes, workshops and the marathon to include Per°Form Open Academy Rave and Per°Form Open Academy Studios.
