In June 1999, Julie Norburn co-founded Art4Space, a community arts organisation, together with Dani and Eli. Although Eli and Dani have moved on, Julie still leads the team today. Initially, Art4Space started with just a vision and no funding, but they received a £500 set-up grant from the Prince's Trust and operated from a cupboard for a while. It wasn't until 2004 that they secured their current premises in Stockwell. They received several smaller grants that helped Art4Space grow, clarify its aims, and set up a business status.
Today, Art4Space is celebrating its 25th anniversary of promoting arts and mental health. Additionally, the opening of their new space this spring, Make & Mend, signifies a new chapter in their journey. As a thriving team, Art4Space continues to lead as a self-sustaining and growing arts non-profit social enterprise. Despite the changes that have taken place over the years, Art4Space has recently refreshed its communications, but their essence remains the same as when it was started: The vital role that arts play in mental health and well-being.
As a team, they continue to have faith and trust in what they know is right - that art is a catalyst for change. Julie Norburn, CEO, encourages everyone to keep moving forward with energy and purpose.
You are invited to celebrate with Art4Space at their 25th celebration on Saturday 6th July – 1-5pm.
