Join 21c and Dirty Dark Place (@dirtydarkplace) for a screening of artist Jeremy Deller's film, Everybody in the Place, followed by an interactive Listening Lounge in The Hive hosted by DJ Theronius Chunk (@theronious_chunk).
With Everybody in the Place, the Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller upturns popular notions of rave and acid house, situating them at the very center of the seismic social changes that reshaped 1980s Britain. Rare and unseen archive materials map the journey from protest movements to abandoned warehouse raves, the white heat of industry bleeding into the chaotic release of the dancefloor.
A re-evaluation of acid house, a musical phenomenon that, as this film shows, did not spring out of nowhere, but owed its emergence to the social and political landscape of 1980s Britain.
Screening Information:
Located in the 21c Video Gallery, there will be 3 showings of this film at 7, 8 and 9pm. We recommend arriving 10 minutes early to grab a seat and enjoy the film in its entirety.

Dive deeper into the world of electronic music with DJ Theronious Chunk via demonstrations of a bullfrog synthesizer, while looking through a curated collection of records, zines and posters for sale.
About Dirty Dark Place:
Dirty Dark Place (DDP) is an errant, artist-run project space dedicated to disrupting the hierarchical and socioeconomic systems that shape access and patronage of contemporary art. We collaborate with contemporary artists to develop programming that challenges the dominant structures and strictures of exhibiting art. DDP is an experiment in community that willfully mismatches place and programming as a means to both incite artists and to provoke new audiences.
