About this Event
The Western Landscape Symposium is an educational forum to promote the creation of appealing and sustainable landscapes in southeastern Colorado, incorporating water wise garden practices and plants adapted to local climate and soil conditions. The symposium has been the premier horticultural conference in Southern Colorado since 2007. We’re very excited to announce our Keynote Speaker, recipient of the 2025 American Horticultural Society Landscape Design award, author of bestselling book The Undaunted Garden, award-winning Plant-Driven Design, and co author of the upcoming Rocky Mountain Native Plant Primer, Lauren Springer. Lauren will be speaking to our audience about “Design Inspiration from Natural Plant Communities--Prairie, Desert, and Chaparral”, which will focus on the beauty and unique characteristics of three important natural plant communities—desert, prairie/meadow, chaparral/brush steppe—to inspire design ideas for garden spaces, and also recommends plants and discusses some practicalities for creating and managing such plantings. Other speakers will present educational forums that promotes appealing, sustainable, water-wise landscapes and bountiful edible gardens in southeastern Colorado.
