2026 UCLA Social Welfare Joseph A. Nunn Award
Come join us for a day of celebration at Luskin School of Public Affairs as we honor Alicia Garoupa, MSW '00. Join us as we recognize Alicia's unwavering dedication to mental health, youth empowerment, and community well-being. With nearly 26 years of service, Alicia has been a transformative force in Los Angeles. Also honoring the outstanding achievements in social welfare with the prestigious Joseph A. Nunn Award.
Also being honored is Laura Alongi-Brinderson, MSW '92, for her lifetime achievement in social welfare. Having spent over 25 years as a social welfare educator at the Luskin School of Public Affairs, Laura has touched the lives of many students and faculty. As the coordinator for our public child welfare system and as a licensed clinical social worker, Laura has also improved the lives of countless children and families in the Los Angeles area.
Finally, this event would be a great opportunity to congratulate Laura Abrams, the former Chair and Professor of Social Welfare, as she closes her chapter with us to become the next Dean of Social Work at USC.
