🐦❄️ Winter Bird Count 4 Kids – Thunder Bay 2026! ❄️🐦Join us for this fun, Canada-wide citizen science event! Head out on the trail with an expert birder to spot and count winter birds. The route is nearly 2 km, and we’ll move slowly and quietly while recording all sightings.
📅 When: PA Day – Friday, January 30 | 10:00 AM–12:00 PM
📍 Where: Wishart Conservation Area
👥 Who: Youth ages 8–17 and their adults
💲 Cost: FREE! (Registration required)
☕ After the hike, we’ll meet back in the parking lot to enjoy hot chocolate and tally our results. All observations will be submitted to Birds Canada to help track winter bird populations across the country.
Bring along:
- Bird guides & binoculars (or borrow ours!)
- Your own mug for hot chocolate
- Warm clothing
- Your eagle eyes and owl ears — can we beat our 2025 totals? 👀🦉
