Mahalo for your interest in the 2026 Summer Intersession Program with Kumano I Ke Ala!
This program gives your keiki hands-on experience in traditional and modern agricultural practices that sustain our island communities. Interns will explore every part of the farm system — from planting and machine operations to data collection, KNF practices, and poi mill production.
Program Goals
This program is designed to help youth:
- Develop skills rooted in Hawaiian values.
- Build confidence and discipline through daily farm work.
- Understand sustainable food systems and environmental stewardship.
- Strengthen their connection to ʻāina, community, and cultural identity.
Requirements
- Ages: 5–13 years old
- Waiver: All keiki must submit a signed Accident Waiver and Release of Liability Form before starting
What to Bring
- Comfortable work clothes that can get dirty
- Hat and sunscreen
- Refillable water bottle
- Snacks or lunch
- Towel and change of clothes (optional)
