The 7th Annual Shreve Memorial Library Children’s Book Festival is set for Saturday, May 2 on the beautiful campus of LSU Shreveport. The annual event is a family-friendly, daylong literary celebration featuring children’s book authors and illustrators, costumed characters, and interactive games and activities for children and families. The 2026 event will take place on Saturday, May 2 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission to the festival is free and open to the public.Created in 2018 under the vision and guidance of Shreve Memorial Library Executive Director, John Tuggle, the Shreve Memorial Library Children’s Book Festival encourages children to develop an early love of reading and promotes early childhood literacy, bringing together authors, illustrators and the community to celebrate literacy. The Annual Shreve Memorial Library Children’s Book Festival is presented in memory of John Tuggle.
Headlining this year’s Shreve Memorial Library Children’s Book Festival are:
• Cartoonist, writer, author, illustrator and creator of the New York Times bestselling series Big Nate and Max & the Midknights, Lincoln Peirce.
• Newbery award-winning and #1 New York Times bestselling author of When You Trap a Tiger, When Tomorrow Burns, and The Science of Things, Tae Keller.
• Cartoonist and creator of Graphix’s early readers graphic novel, Mimi and the Cutie Catastrophe, and Karen’s Prize: A Graphic Novel, part of the Baby-sitters Little Sister Series, Shauna J. Grant.
• Award-winning children’s book author and former mechanical engineer, Stacy McAnulty, whose more than forty published books include the Our Universe series featuring Earth! My First 4.54 Billion Years, Moon! Earth’s Best Friend, and more, as well as middle-grade novel, The Miscalculation of Lightning Girl.
• #1 New York Times bestselling author and illustrator of the Rocket and Duck & Goose picture book series, Tad Hills.
Children, parents and all festival attendees will have an opportunity to meet each of these authors, have autographs signed, and see the authors bring their stories and experiences to life on stage.
