Entries are now open for the 2026 Shropshire Megafinal, an official UK Chess Challenge Event. Experience over the board tournament chess with other juniors from your region, compete for both trophies and medals and try to qualify for the prestigious Gigafinals where players will have the chance to reach the finals at Blenheim Palace! Enjoy live commentary of the top games from top local players.This tournament is open to all junior players regardless of home location who were born after 31/08/2007
The tournament will consist of 6 rounds with all entrants playing all 6 matches. The sections will be split by age.
U8's
U10's
U12's
U14's
U18's
Girls will compete in the same section as boys but there will be seperate trophies for the top girl and top boy.
This tournament is open to all including those who have never before entered a chess tournament. Our team of volunteers will be on hand to assist those players who are unfamiliar with tournament play and ensure a fun day is had by all. If you are unsure if your child is of a suitable ability please feel free to have a discussion with the congress organiser (Chris Lewis – 07508 487092).
