Kentucky Shakespeare to sponsor free performances of The Tempest in parks throughout the city and will be at Emerson Park on Sunday, May 24th at 6:30pm.The Tempest is a story by William Shakespeare about a powerful sorcerer, Prospero, who is stranded on the island with his daughter. After creating a storm to bring his enemies to the island, he must decide between revenge and forgiveness. Filled with magic, romance, and adventure, the play explores second chances and the power of letting go.
This year marks the 13th season for the Kentucky Shakespeare in the Parks Tour and includes over 43 parks. The shows are free, family-friendly, and don’t require reservations or tickets to attend. Each performance runs 80-minutes with no intermission.
Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets, and bug spray since the performances are held outside. In case of inclement weather, most locations have alternative indoor spaces. Location changes will be shared on the Kentucky Shakespeare Facebook page. Seating is first-come, first-served.
