About this Event
Seollal, the Korean Lunar New Year, marks the first day of the lunar calendar and is the most important traditional holiday in Korea.
It is a time to say goodbye to the past year, welcome a new beginning, and wish one another well.
During Seollal, the greeting “Happy New Year” is shared with warmth as people check in on each other, wish for health and happiness, and enjoy comforting food with loved ones.
Some welcome the New Year with family, others with long-time friends, and some with partners who will walk alongside them into the year ahead.
The 2026 Seol Festival is created to bring that same Seollal spirit to London.
Whether you come with family or are spending the Lunar New Year on your own in the UK, this is a space where everyone is welcome.
We’ve designed the festival so that even those new to Korean culture can enjoy it comfortably and naturally.
On the day, you’ll experience performances that capture Korean rhythm and movement, easy-to-join hands-on activities, a small market and workshops, and spaces to share New Year wishes and messages of good fortune.
While honouring Korean traditions and emotions, this event aims to create warm moments of cultural exchange within the city of London.

설날은 음력 1월 1일로, 묵은 해를 보내고 새해를 맞이하며 새로운 시작을 기원하는 한국의 가장 큰 명절입니다.
설날에는 한국에서 “새해 복 많이 받으세요”라는 인사가 가장 자연스럽게 오갑니다.
서로의 안부를 묻고, 건강과 행복을 빌며, 사랑하는 사람들과 따뜻한 음식을 나누면서 한 해의 시작을 함께 맞이하죠.
누군가는 가족과, 또 누군가는 오랜 친구와, 혹은 앞으로의 시간을 함께할 파트너와 “좋은 새해”를 맞이합니다.
2026 Seol Festival은 그런 설날의 분위기를 런던에서 다시 느껴볼 수 있도록 준비한 이벤트입니다.
가족과 함께 오셔도 좋고, 영국에서 혼자 설을 맞이하는 분들도 편하게 들를 수 있는 자리로 만들었어요.
한국 문화를 처음 접하는 분들도 부담 없이 즐길 수 있도록, 다양한 프로그램을 준비했습니다.
현장에서는 한국적인 리듬과 움직임을 담은 공연, 가볍게 참여할 수 있는 체험 프로그램, 작은 마켓과 워크샵, 그리고 새해 덕담과 소원을 나눌 수 있는 공간이 함께 열립니다.
이 행사는 한국의 전통과 정서를 존중하면서도, 런던이라는 도시 안에서 새로운 문화적 교류가 만들어지는 따뜻한 순간이 되길 바랍니다.
