A *Beginner’s Salsa Course* is designed to introduce new dancers to the foundational steps, rhythms, and techniques of salsa in a fun and supportive environment. It’s perfect for those with no prior dance experience or anyone looking to build confidence on the dance floor.
*WHAT TO EXPECT:*
1. *Basic Steps and Timing:*
- Learn the core salsa steps, including the forward and backward basic, side step, and basic turns.
- Understand salsa timing (commonly danced on counts 1-2-3, 5-6-7) and how to stay in sync with the music.
2. *Partner Work:*
- Practice leading and following techniques, ensuring smooth communication between partners.
- Rotate partners (if the class uses this approach) to help you adapt to different styles and improve your confidence.
3. *Body Movement:*
- Introduction to basic body isolations and hip movements to add flair and rhythm to your dancing.
4. *Musicality:*
- Learn how to feel the music, identify the beat, and move in harmony with the rhythm of salsa songs.
5. *Social Dancing Basics:*
- Tips on how to navigate a social dance floor, invite someone to dance, and have fun in a relaxed setting.
*What to Bring:*
Comfortable, breathable clothing and shoes with a smooth sole (avoid trainers with too much grip).
A bottle of water and a positive attitude! No partner is usually required, as many classes rotate participants.
