2026 Rooted In Love BMHW Block Party

Join us for the 3rd Annual Rooted in Love: Black Maternal Health Week Block Party, a powerful community celebration dedicated to uplifting, educating, and supporting mothers and families in New Orleans.

Hosted by One Happy Mama, this free event brings together families, healthcare providers, community organizations, and advocates to raise awareness about Black maternal health while celebrating the beauty, resilience, and joy of motherhood.

Black Maternal Health Week is an opportunity to bring attention to the maternal health disparities that impact Black women across the country while also creating spaces where mothers feel supported, informed, and celebrated.

This year’s block party will be a day full of community, connection, and resources for families.

Families will have the opportunity to receive essential baby items including diapers, wipes, and other baby gear while supplies last.

Join us for powerful fireside chats and panel discussions featuring community leaders, healthcare professionals, and mothers discussing topics such as:

• Black maternal health
• Maternal mental health
• Advocacy and navigating healthcare systems
• The importance of maternal joy and support

We are excited to welcome Tatyana Ali who will join us for an inspiring conversation on Black maternal health and maternal joy.

She will also host a special storytime reading for children and participate in a giveaway featuring one of her Baby Yams quilts.

Mothers deserve care too. Our Wellness Center will feature:

• Chair massages
• Self-care resources
• Wellness vendors
• Relaxation space for moms

Connect with organizations providing services and resources including:

• Maternal healthcare
• Family support programs
• Mental health services
• Parenting resources

A dedicated space for children with supervised activities, games, and fun for the whole family.

Enjoy food vendors, music, and a joyful atmosphere that feels like a community celebration and family reunion.
