Each year the Festival crowns a Queen of Scots, two Court members, and a Wee Queen of Scots through a process that includes an application, interview by local personnel, and a pageant that is more focused on how each young lady holds herself in front of others and is able to speak publicly.In order to participate, Queen candidates are Gratiot County residents or attend school in Gratiot County or are direct relatives of past or current Festival Board members and are confirmed to be between 17-20 years of age by time of pageant. Wee Queen candidates are also Gratiot County residents or attend school in Gratiot County or direct relatives of past or current Festival Board members and are confirmed to be between 8-11 years of age by time of pageant to participate.
The Queen of Scots will receive a $1500 scholarship to the school of her choice with the 1st Runner-Up and 2nd Runner-Up also receiving $500 each to the schools of their choice.
The Wee Queen of Scots will receive a $100 scholarship in addition to her title and crown.
